The Châtelet Theater often receives renowned Japanese artists such as Yutaka Sado, Seiji Ozawa, Kazushi Ono, Kent Nagano, Toru Takemitsu, Tomio Mohri, Usgio Amagatsu, or even Tamasaburo Bando. These famous artists have performed on the Theater’s stage.
Because of the tight links between the Theater and Japan, the CIAM wished to create a specific circle for the Japanese sponsors, open to companies or individuals, in both France and Japan. The goal of Japanese Friends Circle is to support the Theater’s projects with the artists from Japan and to promote the Châtelet productions on the Japanese islands.
The French law about sponsorship enables Japanese companies in France to deduct 60% of their amount in sponsorship of taxes in the companies, with the limit of 0,5% on their non-taxed sales, and allows Japanese people who are French residents to deduct 66% of their sponsorship of revenue taxes.
